New Taunton Project

Homes Caring for Autism is pleased to announce the acquisition of two new properties in Taunton, Somerset. This new and exciting autism-specific project will have a mix of:Click for image of autism-specific supported living flat

- 4 ensuited rooms in a family style home;

- 4 independent flats, plus communal space, in a 4 flat block;

- 1 single independent flat for respite, assessment and emergency admissions.

Other autism-specific residential vacancies

In addition to the forthcoming vacancies in the Taunton project, we currently have two autism-specific vacancies in the group.

Hilltop, Weston super Mare

 Hilltop is our Weston-based home which mainly, but not exclusively, provides specialist care for non-verbal residents, those who rely on visual communication or have sensory needs. We have 1 vacancy here, in this 8 bed home.

 

Stafford Lodge new autistic residential vacancyStafford Lodge, Burnham on Sea 

Having just agreed to support one of our service users back to his home county, this 5 bed home has 1 vacancy now available. Stafford Lodge is a very active autism-specific home, with 4 other young men aged 17-24, this is a premium home with extensive and high quality facilities, ideally suited to someone wanting a very lively and active lifestyle.

 

Directors to speak at national autism conference

Richard Smith, Homes Caring for Autism Managing Director, and Paul Thomas, Development Director, have been invited to speak at the “Delivering Excellence and Effective Transition to Life Long Services for People with Autism” conference in October.

This major national conference will explore the themes of the Adult Autism Strategy and the initial response from consultation on the Strategy, managing the effective transaction to adult services, developing effective care pathways for people with autism, secure care and the development of person centred planning. The directors will be speaking to the conference on person centred planning, its beginnings, how it works as well as presenting a case study.

The conference is being held in central London on 6 October 2009. More details are available on the Laing & Buisson conference page and a copy of the conference brochure is also available on our Downloads page.
